Czech Republic significantly increases imports of Azerbaijani oil
The Czech Republic imported 1.435 million tons of oil from Azerbaijan in January-September 2023, 22.9 per cent more than in the same period of 2022.
The oil supplied from Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic cost 872.068 million euros or $933,592 (a decline of 5.4 per cent), according to the Interfax-Azerbaijan agency’s calculations based on the Czech Statistical Office’s data.
The Czech Republic, in general, increased oil imports by 2.2 per cent to 5.534 million tons of oil in January-September 2023 compared to the same period of 2022. The value of supplies is estimated at 2.732 billion euros or $2.924 million (-21.8 per cent).
Among the top three leading oil suppliers to the Czech Republic in January-September 2023 were Russia (3.476 million tons of oil worth 1.489 billion euros or $1.594 million), Azerbaijan (1.435 million tons worth 872.068 million euros or $933,649) and Kazakhstan (405,705 tons worth 241.376 million euros or $258,420).
The Czech Republic imported 622,975 tons (-8.5 per cent y/y) worth 397.512 million euros or $425,596 (-10 per cent) in September 2023.
Among the three main oil suppliers to the Czech Republic in September 2023 were Russia (340,539 tons worth 217.102 million euros or $232,440), Azerbaijan (187,382 tons worth 120.651 million euros or $129,174) and Kazakhstan (59,714 tons worth 37.66 million euros or $40,320).
Oil supplies from Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic increased by 41.4 per cent in volume and by two per cent in value in September 2023.
