Denmark threatens to seize land housing Russian embassy buildings, envoy says
Copenhagen has threatened to seize the land on which the Russian Embassy buildings in Denmark are located, Russian Ambassador to Copenhagen Vladimir Barbin said in an interview with TASS.
Barbin stated that as a result of what he described as “repressive decisions” by the Danish government, the size of the Russian diplomatic mission had been significantly reduced and the Russian trade mission had ceased operations. He added that the work of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture had also been severely restricted.
According to the ambassador, the Copenhagen City Council was now threatening to confiscate the land housing the buildings of the Russian diplomatic mission.
Barbin also said that Denmark’s confrontational approach toward Russia was obstructing efforts to achieve a political and diplomatic settlement of the war in Ukraine and was undermining the maintenance of normal bilateral relations with Copenhagen.
