Drone strike hits another apartment block in Russia's Syzran

22 April 2026 09:12

At least two residential buildings were damaged in the Russian city of Syzran following an overnight drone attack on April 21–22, according to reports from local media and officials.

The Telegram channel SHOT reported that the number of affected apartment blocks has risen to two after another unmanned aerial vehicle detonated near a multi-story residential building in the same area where an earlier strike caused a partial collapse of a separate structure.

According to the report, the second drone exploded at approximately the level of the fifth or sixth floors of the building. The blast triggered a fire in one of the apartments, shattered dozens of windows throughout the structure, and ignited two vehicles parked outside.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene. The fire has since been extinguished, and response teams continue to operate at the site, the report said.

Separately, the Telegram channel Baza reported that residents of the damaged building are being evacuated to a safe location while specialists assess the structural integrity of the property.

The attack took place overnight, with UAVs targeting Syzran between April 21 and 22. Samara region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed that one of the strikes caused a partial collapse of a residential apartment building.

Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) said that rescue teams have pulled four people from the rubble, including one child and three adults. Authorities believe that two more residents may still be trapped under the debris, and search-and-rescue operations are ongoing.
