Drone strike triggers blaze at Russia's Tolyatti petrochemical facility VIDEO
A fire broke out at the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant in the Russian city of Tolyatti following a reported drone attack, as regional authorities imposed emergency airspace restrictions, according to RBC-Ukraine, citing open-source intelligence (OSINT) channels.
Overnight, Samara region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev announced a “Drone Threat” alert across the region.
Authorities also activated the “Carpet” regime, under which airspace at all altitudes is temporarily closed.
Residents reported hearing a series of loud explosions for at least 40 minutes, with some blasts strong enough to shake windows.
Unverified reports circulating on social media described black plumes of smoke rising above the area, which could indicate the interception or destruction of drones.
Tolyattikauchuk is a major petrochemical facility that produces synthetic rubber and chemical components used in the manufacture of tires and other rubber goods.
