Dubai Square Mall to open within three years in $48 billion mega-project
Dubai is set to welcome a new retail and lifestyle giant, Dubai Square Mall, within the next three years, according to Mohamed Alabbar, founder and managing director of Emaar Properties.
The mall, under construction in Dubai Creek Harbour, will be three times the size of Downtown Dubai, spanning an impressive 2.6 million square metres, and represents a Dh180 billion ($48.6 billion) investment, Caliber.Az reports, via foreign media.
Alabbar described the development as “groundbreaking”, incorporating advanced technologies and smart systems to redefine shopping and leisure. Notably, the mall will allow electric vehicles to move through its interiors, reflecting Dubai’s broader push for sustainable urban mobility.
First announced in 2018 and expanded in 2024, Dubai Square is designed as a hybrid “indoor city”, linking to the future Dubai Creek Tower and offering new concepts in dining, entertainment, and retail. Its pedestrian-friendly layout and AI-driven systems aim to anticipate the needs of both visitors and retailers.
The mall forms part of the wider Dubai Creek Harbour masterplan, which includes 7.4 million square metres of residential space, extensive green areas, and pedestrian-friendly streets alongside the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
“After 15 years of hosting over 100 million visitors and more than 1,500 retailers, we are applying our expertise to shape the future of retail,” Alabbar said.
Dubai Square is set to become a symbol of Dubai’s ambition to merge technology, sustainability, and lifestyle in one landmark destination.
