Dutch FM: Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agreement essential for stability and prosperity
The Netherlands has expressed strong support for the progress made in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing the significance of the recent breakthrough in negotiations.
Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp, in a statement reported by local media, congratulated both nations on finalizing the text of the peace agreement, calling it a “significant and encouraging development”, per Caliber.Az.
“The signing of the treaty is within reach. It is essential for lasting peace, regional stability, and prosperity. The Netherlands strongly supports this process,” Veldkamp wrote on social network X.
This statement follows the March 13 announcement by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, reaffirming Baku’s commitment to continued dialogue with Armenia after successfully concluding negotiations on the draft Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations.
On the Armenian side, the Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Yerevan had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two remaining disputed issues. This move signals that the peace agreement is now prepared for formal signing.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also confirmed that both nations had reached an agreement on the treaty’s terms, stressing Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing peace and stability efforts in the South Caucasus.
