Eco-protest on Khankendi-Lachin road continues despite rainy weather

Despite the rainy weather, the protest action continues in the evening hours on the road Khankendi-Lachin against the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan.

According to Report, the eco-activists and young volunteers express their just discontent with the Azerbaijani society and demand to stop the ecological terror and illegal exploitation of minerals.

They continue to show high activity, show their will and persistence, calling on the world community to stand up for ecology.

Volunteers and NGO representatives participating in the action chanting slogans: "Azerbaijan is the owner of its minerals!", "Stop ecological crimes!", "Stop ecoterror!", "Save the Nature!", "No to Ecocide! Monitoring Yes!". They invariably demand to stop the ecological terror in Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan.

Security of the protesters is provided at a high level by the soldiers of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan and the police brought to the territory.

The demonstrators do not interfere with the movement of vehicles used for humanitarian purposes.

It is worth mentioning that as a result of the talks held on 3 and 7 December 2022 with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, a delegation consisting of specialists of the Ministry of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy and the closed joint stock company AzerGold had to conduct a preliminary monitoring of the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits on the territory of Azerbaijan, where the peacekeepers are temporarily deployed, as well as the related environmental and other problems. However, due to the inactivity of peacekeepers, the monitoring did not take place.

On December 12, 2022, Azerbaijani eco-activists, volunteers and representatives of civil society began a peaceful protest demanding to end environmental terrorism, to stop the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits.
