Egyptian MFA praises Macron's call to halt arms supply to Israel
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal to stop arms shipments to Israel as a means to resolve the conflict in Gaza.
A statement released by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry highlights that the French leader’s stance “fully aligns with international humanitarian law” and reflects the growing global discontent with Israel's aggressive policies towards Gaza and Lebanon, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Cairo believes Macron's proposal is timely and urges the international community to act on its intentions regarding the matter. The Egyptian ministry also commended France for its unwavering support for Palestinian rights.
Macron had earlier voiced his opinion on France Inter radio, stating that halting arms supplies to Israel for its military operations in Gaza is a priority for achieving a political resolution to the conflict.
He also addressed Israel's military action in Lebanon, declaring that it is unacceptable to "sacrifice the Lebanese people" and emphasized that "Lebanon must not become the next Gaza." The French president called for an immediate end to hostilities.
