Envoy reveals how many Armenians crossed Lachin checkpoint since its establishment
Azerbaijan's establishment of a border checkpoint on the Lachin road was a necessary measure to stop these illegal actions.
The remarks came from Rovshan Sadigbayli, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia/ Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the OSCE & other International Organizations in Vienna, replying to the Armenian foreign minister at the Permanent Council meeting, APA reports.
"At the same time, appropriate conditions have been created for a transparent and orderly transition of residents of Armenian origin living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan in both directions. Since the establishment of the border checkpoint - from April 23 to the present day, despite the attempts of the Armenian side to dissuade them from using the checkpoint and false propaganda, 1,927 people have crossed the border using the checkpoint," the ambassador noted.
The units of the Azerbaijani State Border Service established a checkpoint on the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan on the border with Armenia, at the beginning of the Lachin-Khankendi road at 12:00 (GMT +4) on April 23 adequately to the unilateral establishment of a checkpoint by Armenia at the entrance to the road on the border with Azerbaijan on April 22.
