Erdoğan: Kahramanmaraş school attack to be investigated in full
President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that the armed attack on a secondary school in Kahramanmaraş will be thoroughly investigated in all its aspects, urging the public not to turn the tragedy into a subject of political debate.
In a statement shared on social media, Erdoğan stressed that human suffering and tragic events must not be exploited for political gain or used to boost ratings.
“I extend my wishes for a speedy recovery to all our citizens, all our families, and especially our dear children affected by the armed attack that took place in Kahramanmaraş and deeply saddened all of Türkiye,” the president said.
He added that prosecutors and education inspectors are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the incident. According to Erdoğan, members of the government have already travelled to Kahramanmaraş to share the grief of the victims’ families, provide assistance to those affected, and personally oversee the process.
The Turkish leader also called on the public to disregard misinformation and rely only on official statements from state institutions.
On April 15, 2026, an armed attack at a secondary school in Kahramanmaraş initially left several people injured, with details unclear in the early hours. As the situation developed, authorities confirmed nine fatalities, including students and a teacher, and multiple injuries.
