Estonia releases map of Russian airspace violation PHOTO

20 September 2025 18:41

The Estonian Ministry of Defence has released a detailed map showing the violation of Estonian airspace by Russian military aircraft.

The incident, which took place over the Gulf of Finland near the island of Vaindlo, involved three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets, Caliber.Az writes.

According to the ministry, the aircraft flew parallel to the Estonian state border from east to west before entering Estonian airspace to a depth of less than 10 kilometers. The jets remained within Estonian territory for approximately 12 minutes, during which they had their transponders turned off and did not maintain radio communication.

NATO F-35 fighter jets were dispatched in response and escorted the Russian aircraft out of Estonian airspace.

The newly released map visually outlines the flight path of the MiG-31s, confirming the location and depth of the incursion.

“Below is a map of violations of Estonian airspace by Russian aircraft. The violation occurred over the Gulf of Finland,” the ministry stated in the release.

This is the fourth confirmed Russian airspace violation over Estonia in 2025, raising continued concerns about regional security and prompting renewed calls for Russia to comply with international aviation standards.

Estonian officials have reiterated the importance of maintaining NATO’s air policing presence in the Baltic region to deter further provocations.
