EU denies interference in US elections Following controversy with Elon Musk
European Commission Spokesperson Arianna Podesta has clarified that the Commission's decision to send a warning letter to Elon Musk about the spread of misinformation on X (formerly Twitter) hours before an interview with US presidential candidate Donald Trump was not an attempt to interfere in the US elections.
Podesta emphasized that the European Commission had no intention of influencing the US elections and has never done so, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
"Of course, by sending this letter, we are not intervening in the US elections; we never do," she stated in response to questions from journalists and criticism from Musk.
Podesta also noted that the letter sent by Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market, was not coordinated with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen or the Commission's board. Additionally, the timing of the letter was not aligned with the Commission's leadership or its services.
