EU top diplomat expresses solidarity with Poland over Russian drone incursion
The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has condemned the recent violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones, describing the incident as the most serious breach of European airspace since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Kallas declared the EU's unwavering support for Poland and emphasized the need for a united European response to continued Russian aggression, Caliber.Az reports.
Last night in Poland, we saw the most serious European airspace violation by Russia since the war began, and indications suggest it was intentional, not accidental.

"Last night in Poland, we saw the most serious European airspace violation by Russia since the war began, and indications suggest it was intentional, not accidental. I am in contact with the NATO Secretary General and Radosław Sikorski. The EU stands in full solidarity with Poland," she wrote.
The incident, which reportedly involved one or more unmanned aerial vehicles entering Polish territory from the east, has prompted serious concerns among NATO allies. While Polish authorities have yet to release detailed findings, initial assessments suggest the drone or drones originated from Russian-controlled territory and may have been involved in surveillance or probing maneuvers.
Kallas used the moment to reiterate calls for stronger deterrence against Moscow and increased support for Kyiv, calling on EU member states to step up their commitments.
"The EU plays an important role and we will support initiatives such as the Eastern Border Shield defence line," she stressed. The proposed Eastern Border Shield aims to bolster Europe's defensive infrastructure along its frontier with Russia and Belarus, including air defence, surveillance, and rapid deployment capabilities.
In her statement, Kallas also urged the international community to make continued aggression more costly for the Kremlin. "Raising the price" of war for Moscow, she argued, is essential to ending the conflict and preventing further destabilization of the region.
