Europol's anti-hacker operation leads to arrests in Armenia, Ukraine
In an unprecedented international police operation, four individuals have been arrested and over 100 internet servers have been taken offline in a crackdown on a network distributing malicious software, Europol announced on May 30.
Dubbed the "Endgame" operation, this initiative, which took place from May 27 to May 29, is the largest of its kind in history.
The operation was spearheaded by France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Germany, with support from several non-EU countries.
Arrests were made in Armenia and Ukraine, and more than two thousand domains have been seized by police control.
Investigators revealed that one of the main suspects amassed at least 69 million euros ($74.5 million) in cryptocurrency by renting out websites for cybercriminals to distribute ransomware.
