FAO reaffirms commitment to partnership with Azerbaijan on climate-resilient agriculture
The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is deepening its cooperation with the Azerbaijani government to advance sustainable agriculture and food systems, FAO’s Azerbaijan representative Nasar Hayat said at an international agriculture exhibition in Baku.
Speaking at the 30th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition (InterFood Azerbaijan) and the 18th Caspian Agro Exhibition, Hayat said the collaboration is key to tackling global challenges such as climate change, land degradation, and rural migration, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Let’s be clear: the challenges we face today are real – climate change, land degradation, rural depopulation, and more. But there are also solutions,” Hayat said. “Innovation is our bridge to sustainable development, and stability depends on how we build lasting, fair, and strong food systems.”
He added that FAO remains committed to driving innovation, equality, and food security for all. The agency is already working with Azerbaijan on initiatives ranging from efficient irrigation to farmer training and cooperative development.
“These are not just projects; they are investments in the future and in future generations,” Hayat said, calling for greater collaboration in the sector.
“As we celebrate the achievements of Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector, I encourage all of you to forge new partnerships. May your discussions lead to innovation, your networks to action, and your efforts to a more sustainable future for agriculture in Azerbaijan and globally.”
