First symbolic shipment of Armenian apricots arrives in EU
The first symbolic shipment of Armenian apricots has arrived in the European Union, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has stated.
In a post on X, she thanked Armenia for the gift and a very productive discussion and said the delivery marks a symbolic milestone in agricultural cooperation with Armenia, Caliber.Az reports.
“We met ahead of tomorrow’s launch of the Connectivity Agenda Platform, within which we will continue our work to better connect Armenia with its neighbours and Europe. This will help Armenian producers diversify their exports and supply more of their high-quality products to new markets,” the statement said.
Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) introduced a series of restrictions on imports from Armenia starting May 22.
These included a ban on flowers from May 22, followed by temporary restrictions on fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, leafy greens, and strawberries from May 30, as well as stone fruits (cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines) and fresh grapes from June 2
From June 3, restrictions were also imposed on pome fruits, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits.
In addition, Rosselkhoznadzor stated that Armenia was required from June 2 to suspend certification of live fish and fish products intended for export to Russia.
