FM: Armenia pushes ahead with EU visa liberalisation process

02 December 2025 17:26

Armenia has formally begun the process of liberalising its visa regime with the European Union, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said, describing the move as part of a broader shift towards deeper cooperation with the bloc.

Speaking on December 2 after the sixth meeting of the Armenia–EU Partnership Council, Mirzoyan said Yerevan was already implementing an action plan aimed at eventually achieving a visa-free regime for Armenian citizens travelling to EU countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

“We are seeing progress in this direction through the implementation of the action plan, which in the end will lead to a vision of a visa-free regime,” he stated.

Mirzoyan also said that relations between Armenia and the European Union were entering a new phase, describing the partnership as moving to the level of strategic cooperation.

“This is not the limit of Yerevan’s ambitions,” he added.

The foreign minister recalled that in March the Armenian National Assembly passed a law on membership in the European Union, arguing that closer cooperation with the bloc would further strengthen the country’s resilience.
