FM Fidan: Türkiye, US working on Erdoğan–Trump meeting
Preparations are underway for a meeting between the presidents of Türkiye and the United States, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has confirmed.
Fidan said discussions are ongoing to determine the location and timing of the planned summit between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
“Our work on these matters is ongoing,” he stated. “Whether the meeting will take place in Türkiye or the United States, and when it will be held, are questions our institutions are currently addressing.”
Fidan also commented on the possibility of a visit by President Erdoğan to Syria.
“There is, in general, such an intention,” he said. “Work is under way to establish the necessary conditions, as well as to decide on a date and location.”
Meanwhile, the Minister noted that the 4th edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF2025) had become a “benchmark of diplomacy”. According to him, the forum had established itself as a substantive and multi-layered consultative platform.
Fidan said that ADF shed light on regional and global developments and offered solutions to current challenges. He added that participants of this year’s forum expressed both their hopes and concerns regarding the shared future of humanity. The Minister said that during the forum, “mechanisms of cooperation were discussed that would allow us to build this future together”.
“We discussed how diplomacy can serve compromise rather than polarisation. It was emphasised that diplomacy is not only an instrument to be used in times of crisis but also a transformative mindset and a restorative force,” he said.
Fidan stated that a total of 50 sessions were held within the scope of the forum, highlighting that this is a very high number by international standards.
