FM Lavrov rules out peace with Ukraine without "new regions" joining Russia
18 July 2024 11:09
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that agreements to settle the conflict in Ukraine must reflect current realities, including the integration of "new regions" within Russia,
He made the remarks at a press conference at the UN, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"We will seek a resolution. A resolution that must consider the realities on the ground and in public life," Lavrov said, emphasizing that the West needs to cease supplying weapons to Ukraine before any negotiations can commence.
Lavrov made it clear that Moscow cannot forsake "the regions that joined Russia as a result of the referendum."
He stressed, "This is enshrined in our constitution and it is not up for discussion."
