Foreign intelligence chief: Russia, US - most dangerous, irreconcilable opponents
Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin has said that after the collapse of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), some people in Russia began to unreasonably call the US a partner, while this country is now the most dangerous and implacable opponent of Russia.
“After the collapse of the USSR, the US again led the "creeping campaign" of all "hyenas" worldwide against Russia. All previous promises were forgotten, NATO approached the Russian borders,” Naryshkin said in an interview with the Russian National Defence magazine.
“The collapse of the Russian economy, science, armed forces, culture, the separation and reformatting of previously friendly Soviet republics was initiated, Russian political institutions were discredited, Russophobic propaganda was going on,” he noted.
He said that Russia managed to get out of this "attack" with dignity and to strengthen its positions, but the US still remains its most dangerous and irreconcilable geopolitical opponent.
