France names new head of Macron's presidential cabinet
French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed Frédéric Rose as chief of staff at the Élysée Palace, replacing Georges-François Leclerc in one of the administration's most senior positions.
According to BFM, Rose will officially take up his new role on June 6.
Leclerc had served as Macron's chief of staff since October 2025. His departure follows his appointment as prefect of the Île-de-France region, a decision approved by France's Council of Ministers.
Rose previously served as head of the Yvelines department and was widely viewed as the frontrunner for the position. He is also familiar with the presidential administration, having worked at the Élysée Palace as Macron's security adviser from 2020 to March 2024.
His career includes extensive experience in internal security and public administration, with roles in the Interior Ministry and various interministerial institutions.
The appointment comes amid a broader reshuffle within the Élysée Palace, where several senior officials, including the secretary-general and other key members of Macron's team, have been replaced in recent months.
