France's FC Lyon trainer receives head injury after bus attack prior to match
The Ligue 1 match between Marseille and Lyon was called off just before it was scheduled to begin due to an attack on Lyon's team bus prior to the game.
As reported by the Athletic, the attack from October 29 caused injuries to their head coach Fabian Grosso and assistant Raffaele Longo, with Lyon confirming that six vehicles carrying supporters were also targeted, resulting in "serious" facial injuries to Grosso and Longo as "several reinforced windows were shattered by heavy projectiles of unknown origin".
France's sports minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera, later confirmed that seven individuals were arrested in connection with the incidents, while Interior minister Gerald Darmanin stated on October 30 that nine people had been arrested, with five police officers sustaining injuries.
Lyon owner John Textor informed broadcaster Amazon Prime France that Grosso had suffered head injuries and bleeding, which were caused by shattered glass when the match's cancellation was announced.
