France sentences former French PM over fake job case
17 June 2025 17:58
The Paris Court of Appeal has handed down a sentence of four-year-suspended imprisonment to former French Prime Minister François Fillon, who led the country from 2007 to 2012, in a high-profile case involving the fictitious employment of his wife.
Alongside the suspended prison term, Fillon has been ordered to pay a fine of $375,000, Caliber.Az reports via French media.
Additionally, the court has imposed a five-year ban preventing him from running for any public office.
This ruling follows Fillon’s initial conviction in 2022, when he was sentenced to four years in prison, including one year of actual jail time, for the same charges.
