France urges Türkiye to decide on plight of Sweden, Finland
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna called on Turkey to "make its choice" regarding the inclusion of Sweden and Finland in NATO.
The Column stated this in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, according to the European Truth.
"Türkiye is an important member of the North Atlantic Alliance. For their part, Finland and Sweden have made a historic choice. The presence of both of them in NATO will be a plus for our security in Europe," she said.
The French foreign minister added that Stockholm and Helsinki "took steps" to satisfy Ankara's claims.
"The main role is played by the Secretary-General of the Alliance, but Türkiye also needs to make its choice due to its responsibilities. Does she want to strengthen the Alliance or is she against it? Which cannot but lead to the question of its behaviour as a member of NATO," Colonna said.
