From occupation to innovation: International delegates to tour Azerbaijan’s revitalized Kalbajar
Leaders of embassies, international organizations, and military attachés accredited in Azerbaijan are set to visit Kalbajar today, on September 18.
Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, will accompany the delegation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
This visit follows President Ilham Aliyev's recent tour of Kalbajar on September 2, 2024, where he inaugurated key transport and infrastructure projects, including new catering facilities.
The diplomatic delegation will explore several sites, including the Sugovushan and Sarsang reservoirs, the "Yukhary Veng" hydroelectric power station, newly constructed residential buildings, a secondary school, and the "Istisu" mineral water plant.
It should be noted that visits of representatives of the diplomatic corps to the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation are organised regularly. They underscore an ongoing international interest in the region.
Kalbajar was liberated from Armenian occupation on November 25, 2020, during the 44-day Patriotic War, having been occupied since April 2, 1993.
