Garabagh: Russian peacekeepers complete aerial evacuation of fuel tanker explosion victims
Helicopter crews of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RCC) have completed the evacuation of civilians by air ambulance in Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region who suffered as a result of a fuel tanker explosion in Khankendi.
According to the ministry, doctors of the Russian peacekeepers' special medical unit evacuated 258 people in 42 flights, the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry reports.
In addition, patients of the Khankandi Republican Medical Centre in need of medical and resuscitation assistance were also evacuated by air ambulance
The Defence Ministry stressed that there are 522 civilians in the areas where Russian peacekeepers are stationed, including 293 children, who are currently unable to return to their homes. Food and medical assistance have been organised for them.
