Georgia to host multinational military drills
More than 2,400 military personnel will take part in the joint Noble Partner 2022 multinational exercises with the US in Georgia.
These exercises will be held in Georgia for the sixth time, they have been held since 2015, Interfax reports with reference to the Georgian Defence Ministry.
For the first time, the military from Japan and Sweden will take part in them, the ministry noted. Furthermore, the Georgian and American military, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Greece, Great Britain, Türkiye, Slovakia, Norway, Hungary, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Poland, as well as military personnel of the multinational brigade of Lithuania-Poland-Ukraine will participate in the exercises.
The Defence Ministry said the exercises aim "to increase readiness and interoperability between Georgia, the United States, regional partners and allies to ensure a stable and safe environment in the Black Sea region".
The start date of the exercise has not been announced.
Last week, the Georgian Defence Ministry reported that American military equipment has already begun to arrive in the country from Germany, which will be involved in the drills.
