Georgia to spare no effort for Baku-Yerevan peace, PM vows
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili has said that Georgia and Azerbaijan support each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Darchiashvili made these remarks at a briefing with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Tbilisi, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
“Azerbaijan not only is a good friend but also a very strong strategic partner. Georgia will exert all possible efforts to achieve peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
The Georgian minister said that the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are developing in various sectors.
“Economic projects are being implemented. This is very important for our region,” he added.
Friendly and neighbourly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia have historical roots; they have always been at a high level. Georgia recognized the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on November 18, 1992.
The Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia has been operating since March 1996.
