New Chinese ambassador arrives in Baku to begin diplomatic mission
China’s newly appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, arrived in Baku on April 14 to officially begin her diplomatic tenure.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan, quoted by local media, Lu Mei was welcomed at the airport by representatives from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as officials and senior diplomats from the Chinese mission.
During the welcome ceremony, the ambassador remarked that China and Azerbaijan are not only sincere and trustworthy friends but also equal and mutually beneficial partners.
Lu Mei emphasized that it is a great honor for her to represent China in Azerbaijan during such a significant time, as bilateral cooperation continues to deepen across all areas under the strategic leadership of the two countries' leaders.
She expressed her commitment to implementing the key agreements reached between the heads of state and pledged to work closely with representatives from all sectors of Azerbaijani society. Her aim, she noted, is to advance pragmatic cooperation, strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples, and elevate the China-Azerbaijan strategic partnership to a new level.
Lu Mei succeeds Guo Min, who previously held the post of Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
