Azerbaijan welcomes Georgian president with tour of Heydar Aliyev Centre
During his official visit to Azerbaijan, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has toured the Heydar Aliyev Centre, one of the country's most prominent architectural landmarks.
Kavelashvili was given an in-depth overview of the centre, which is dedicated to the legacy of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Heydar Aliyev Centre, a world-class architectural masterpiece, serves as a hub for studying and preserving the profound contributions of Heydar Aliyev, particularly his philosophy of statecraft and his vision for Azerbaijani identity.
The centre’s work also includes research into the national leader’s leadership during both the Soviet era and the post-independence period of Azerbaijan. President Kavelashvili began his visit by viewing a collection of cars that were used by Heydar Aliyev during his time in office from 1969 to 2003.
The display reflects an important aspect of the leader’s personal history and his era of leadership in Azerbaijan. The Georgian president also explored various exhibits, photographs, and the multimedia hall, all of which highlight key periods of Aliyev’s leadership, both under Soviet rule and in Azerbaijan's years of independence.
One of the highlights of Kavelashvili’s visit was the "Pearls of Azerbaijan" exhibition, which showcases the country’s rich natural resources, centuries-old history, and vibrant cultural heritage. Among the items on display were rare examples of Azerbaijani carpet weaving, ancient musical instruments presented in their original sound format, national costumes, and sacred books in multiple languages.
Following his visit to the "Classic Car Exhibition", President Kavelashvili signed the Book of Remembrance, leaving a note to commemorate his visit. The Georgian president departed the Heydar Aliyev Centre with a positive impression, deeply appreciating the cultural and historical significance of the exhibits.
