Azerbaijani, Lithuanian top officials focus on Armenia's increasing military threat
On April 14, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Julius Pranevičius in Baku to discuss Armenia's continued militarisation.
Senior officials from both sides also attended the meeting. Both parties underscored the importance of continuing political consultations to facilitate dialogue and deepen mutual understanding, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The talks also emphasised the value of strengthening ties through various multilateral platforms, aiming to address regional and global challenges together.
Bayramov provided the Lithuanian delegation with a comprehensive overview of the current post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus region.
He highlighted Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to mitigate the threat of landmines left from the recent conflict and detailed the progress made in normalising relations with Armenia.
Bayramov also addressed the obstacles to further advancement in the normalisation process, noting persistent territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenian legislation.
Furthermore, he spoke about the role of the OSCE Minsk Group, which continues to be involved in peacebuilding efforts in the region. In addition to the one-on-one discussions, the two countries also held political consultations between their respective foreign ministries later in the day.
