Baku, Tashkent discuss implementing presidential directives in energy, transport, industry
Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov discussed the progress in implementing presidential directives, including on joint projects in the fields of energy, transport, investment, and industry.
During the talks in Tashkent on June 11, both sides underscored the strategic importance of the Treaty on Allied Relations signed in 2024, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers.
Discussions also covered future cooperation opportunities in renewable energy, shipbuilding, education, and humanitarian initiatives.
The prime ministers praised their collaboration within international platforms, including the Organization of Turkic States.
Special mention was made of Uzbekistan’s contribution to the construction of a school in the liberated Fuzuli region and the joint participation of both presidents in the inauguration of a garment factory in Khankendi.
In a continuation of talks, Asadov and Aripov discussed rising trade ties, underscoring nearly tripled turnover between the states in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year.
Notably, the Treaty on Allied Relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was officially signed on August 23, 2024, during a state visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Tashkent. This agreement elevates the bilateral partnership to a strategic alliance, underscoring mutual commitments to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-participation in alliances directed against each other.
