State Dept: US trade diplomacy helped drive Baku-Yerevan peace

US commercial diplomacy catalysed peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, US State Department official Caleb Orr has said.

Speaking during a hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the assistant secretary of state described commercial diplomacy under the Trump administration as a key instrument of statecraft, Caliber.Az reports.

"Commercial diplomacy in the Trump administration is a key tool of diplomatic statecraft. For example, President Trump's leadership in securing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan treated US economic engagement not only as a byproduct of successful diplomacy, but a catalyst for it," Orr said.
