Azerbaijan, Slovakia set to boost business ties with investment deal
Azerbaijan and Slovakia are preparing to sign an agreement on the promotion and protection of investments aimed at providing more stable and predictable conditions for businesses from both countries.
The issue was discussed during a meeting in Baku between Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The talks also focused on energy security, including the diversification of energy supply sources, as well as the expansion of transport routes connecting Azerbaijan with Central Europe. Pellegrini emphasized Slovakia's interest in developing predictable and mutually beneficial cooperation and highlighted Bratislava's intention to play a greater role in strengthening transport connectivity between Europe and Asia.
The sides also discussed plans to launch direct flights between Bratislava and Baku in October. The new air link is expected to boost trade, tourism, and direct contacts between citizens of the two countries.
During his visit to Azerbaijan, Pellegrini also held talks with Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. The discussions centered on further strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, with both sides noting the growing interaction between the legislative bodies following the signing of a cooperation memorandum in May.

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov has met with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini to discuss prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation across political, economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian fields, Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers said.
During the meeting, the sides noted that President Pellegrini's official visit to Azerbaijan, as well as his talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Shusha, would give new momentum to the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The officials highlighted the importance of Slovak companies' involvement in reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan's formerly occupied territories, particularly in the construction of Bash Garvand village in the Aghdam district.
The sides also welcomed Slovakia's initiative to construct and donate a secondary school building in Bash Garvand, expressing appreciation for the contribution.
During the discussions, Asadov and Pellegrini emphasized the continued growth of cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, energy, transport, humanitarian, and other areas.
The meeting also focused on opportunities to further expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest and implement new joint projects aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
