Azerbaijan, Slovakia keen to expand emergency management ties PHOTO
Azerbaijan's Minister of Emergency Situations, Kamaladdin Heydarov, met with Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok in the city of Shusha on July 14, holding talks focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in emergency management and civil protection.
The ministers reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, describing bilateral ties as being rooted in friendship, mutual respect, and close cooperation. They also noted the significant potential for expanding collaboration between the two countries' relevant institutions, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
During the meeting, Heydarov outlined the work of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations, with particular emphasis on humanitarian demining operations in the territories of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur that were liberated from occupation. He expressed confidence that the talks would pave the way for stronger cooperation and the exchange of expertise in civil defence, risk assessment, disaster prevention, and search-and-rescue operations.
Šutaj Eštok thanked the Azerbaijani side for the warm reception and reaffirmed Slovakia's interest in strengthening cooperation between the two countries' emergency response agencies. He underscored the shared commitment to enhancing collaboration in emergency preparedness and response.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
