Turkish envoy: “One nation, two states” proved true during July 15
The concept of "One Nation, Two States" was reaffirmed during the events of July 15, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün has said.
Speaking to journalists in Baku during an event marking Türkiye's Democracy and National Unity Day on July 15, the ambassador noted that the Azerbaijani people had stood by Türkiye during the attempted coup in 2016, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"During the events of July 15, the friendly and brotherly Azerbaijani people stood alongside Türkiye," Akgün added.
"We are grateful to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for his stance regarding the attempted coup in Turkey and for the support extended to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The concept of 'One Nation, Two States' was confirmed during the events of July 15. This concept later proved itself once again during the Karabakh war," he remarked.
The ambassador stressed that the spirit of brotherhood, founded on shared history, culture and values, "has lived, lives and will continue to live," while continuing to play an important role in advancing the principle of "One Nation, Two States."
