Slovak president: Aghdam school to symbolise friendship with Azerbaijan
A new school named after General Milan Rastislav Štefánik, to be built in the village of Bash Garvand in Azerbaijan's Aghdam district, will become a symbol of friendship between Slovakia and Azerbaijan and an investment in future generations, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has stated.
Writing on X, Pellegrini described the Smart Village project in Bash Garvand as one of the "most inspiring symbols" of the region's recovery.

"I am proud that Slovak expertise is already playing a meaningful role in building a brighter future, with Slovak companies playing a major role in bringing this ambitious project to life," he said.
According to the Slovak president, the initiative is creating the conditions for a safe, dignified and sustainable return to peaceful life through modern infrastructure and innovative solutions.
"Together with President Ilham Aliyev, we also laid the foundation stone of a new school that will proudly bear the name of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik—a lasting symbol of the friendship between Slovakia and Azerbaijan and an investment in future generations," Pellegrini noted.
He stressed that the project demonstrates the practical application of Slovak knowledge and experience.
In his words, Slovak companies are helping turn vision into reality and deliver tangible results on the ground, describing the initiative as an example of the strategic partnership between Slovakia and Azerbaijan in action.
