Azerbaijan rejects disinformation over alleged agent recruitment in Iran
Azerbaijan has firmly rejected baseless and fabricated allegations suggesting its involvement in recruiting ethnic Azerbaijanis as agents for operations in Iran.
Hikmet Hajiev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department at the Presidential Administration, issued a strong rebuttal via his official social media account, Caliber.Az reports.
“Certain media and social media accounts have recently circulated entirely unfounded and fabricated claims suggesting that as if Azerbaijan has recruited ethnic Azerbaijanis as agents and deployed them into Iran on behalf of Israel. These kinds of absurd and fantasy-driven allegations have no connection to reality and constitute nothing more than deliberate disinformation. We categorically reject such fake news and baseless accusations,” Hajiev stated.
