Azerbaijan facilitates evacuation of Russian artists amid Iran crisis

Amid the escalating crisis in Iran, a coordinated evacuation effort is underway to repatriate foreign nationals stranded in the country.

Azerbaijan has been actively facilitating the safe transit of these individuals upon receiving formal requests for assistance, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

In the coming days, a contingent comprising representatives and citizens from various nations is expected to cross into Azerbaijan by land from Iran. Notably, this group includes 51 members of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, who were touring the Islamic Republic when the situation deteriorated.

Additionally, approximately 90 artists and cultural figures, among them the distinguished People’s Artist and renowned Russian filmmaker Fyodor Bondarchuk, along with other Russian nationals and foreign citizens, are slated to be evacuated.
