Israel conducts new airstrikes targeting strategic sites in Iran's Shiraz, Tabriz
Israel has escalated its military campaign with fresh airstrikes deep within Iranian territory, focusing on critical military infrastructure in the northwestern city of Tabriz and the southern city of Shiraz.
The Israeli Air Force specifically targeted and struck a missile manufacturing facility in Shiraz, further intensifying the pressure on Iran’s defence capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tasnim News Agency.
Earlier, the Israeli Air Force launched an airstrike on the Shekari Air Defence Headquarters in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz, located in East Azerbaijan Province.
The strike occurred in the vicinity of Tabriz International Airport, where multiple explosions were heard. Eyewitnesses reported thick plumes of black smoke rising from the targeted area.
In the early hours of June 13, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated a large-scale military operation codenamed Rising Lion, during which the Israeli Air Force (IAF) conducted multiple waves of precision airstrikes across Iranian territory. The operation focused on military installations and components of Iran’s nuclear program.
According to initial reports, targets included key strategic sites in Tehran, where several high-ranking Iranian military officials were killed.
The attacks also resulted in the deaths of key Iranian military and scientific leaders. Among the casualties was Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was also killed, a loss that the IRGC officially confirmed.
