Azerbaijani MP appointed TURKPA Secretary General at Astana summit
Azerbaijani Member of Parliament Ramil Hasanov has been elected Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) during the organization’s summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The appointment was confirmed during a session of the TURKPA Assembly Council and the 14th plenary meeting of the organization, which convened under the theme “The Turkic Era: The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy,” Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The summit gathered high-level delegations from member states to discuss regional cooperation and the growing significance of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the Turkic world.
Muhammet Alper Hayali was appointed as Deputy Secretary General of of TURKPA, further reinforcing the organization’s executive leadership team.
In a significant procedural development, the rotating chairmanship of TURKPA was formally transferred from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan. The session concluded with the adoption of the Astana Declaration, a document outlining the assembly’s strategic vision and priorities moving forward.
The 15th plenary session of TURKPA is scheduled to be held in the Kyrgyz Republic, continuing the assembly’s tradition of rotational hosting among member nations.
