Nakhchivan hosts conference on Western Azerbaijan’s past and future
A major academic conference titled “Western Azerbaijan: History, Culture and the Great Return” is currently taking place in Nakhchivan, bringing together scholars and officials to discuss the historical and cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan, as well as prospects for return and reintegration.
The event is being held in partnership with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), its Nakhchivan branch, the Western Azerbaijan Community, Nakhchivan State University, and the ANAS Institute of History and Ethnology named after Bakikhanov, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
An exhibition dedicated to Western Azerbaijan was opened at the Scientific Library of the Nakhchivan branch of ANAS ahead of the conference.
The plenary session is taking place at the meeting hall of the Nakhchivan City Executive Power, where discussions are focused on the historical presence of Azerbaijanis in the region and the concept of the Great Return.
The conference is set to continue throughout the afternoon across five sessions, where a total of 61 academic presentations will be delivered.
