Azerbaijan rejects Armenia's cultural center shelling allegations
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has firmly refuted claims made by Armenia that Azerbaijan Army units fired upon the Khanazakh settlement, causing damage to a cultural centre.
According to an official statement by the ministry, these allegations are "baseless, false, and complete disinformation," Caliber.Az reports.
The statement clarified that Azerbaijan's armed forces did not open fire in the direction of Khanazakh, emphasizing that Azerbaijan’s military forces do not target civilian populations or civilian infrastructure. "The Azerbaijan Army takes adequate retaliatory measures only in response to provocations committed by the Armenian armed forces," the Defence Ministry said.
Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry further stressed that Armenia’s attempt to spread such misinformation is part of a broader effort to mislead the international community. The statement accused Armenia of attempting to conceal their own provocations, which include regular attacks on Azerbaijan Army positions from various directions.
The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has consistently reported incidents of ceasefire violations by Armenian armed forces, including the use of small arms fire targeting Azerbaijani positions.
Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry condemns these actions as deliberate provocations aimed at escalating tensions in the region.
