Georgian president arrives in Azerbaijan PHOTO
On April 15, President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit.
An honor guard was lined up at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in honor of the distinguished guest, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
President Kavelashvili was welcomed at the airport by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, and other officials.
Let’s note that Kavelashvili has chosen Azerbaijan for his first official foreign visit since his election as president, underscoring the strategic partnership and close ties between the two neighboring countries.
On December 14, 2024, Kavelashvili, a former footballer and member of the ruling Georgian Dream party, was elected president by a 300-member electoral college. He received 224 out of 225 valid votes, with one ballot invalidated. Notably, he was the sole candidate, nominated by Bidzina Ivanishvili, the party's founder and influential figure.
