Georgian Military Road closed for all modes of transport

The movement of heavy vehicles along the Georgian Military Road has been temporarily suspended due to bad weather.

"Due to the deterioration of weather conditions on the territory of Georgia, the inability to ensure safe passage of vehicles, as well as taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian Border Police, the movement of all types of vehicles is prohibited on the Vladikavkaz - Lars locality - in the direction of departure from the Russian Federation from 06:00 local time until further notice," the press service of the North Ossetian Emergencies Ministry told Interfax.

The Georgian Military Road is currently the only land route linking Russia and Georgia.
