Georgian official highlights Azerbaijan as key trading partner
Executive Director of the Georgian National Statistics Office Gogita Todadze has highlighted that Azerbaijan is one of Georgia’s key trading partners.
“Azerbaijan’s share in Georgia’s total export volume exceeds 11 per cent,” he said, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He noted that in 2024, Georgia exported products worth approximately $724 million to Azerbaijan, which is a 16 per cent decrease compared to the previous year.
"The drop in this figure is primarily due to a 34 per cent reduction in vehicle exports, which account for about 45 per cent of all exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan. Other major exported goods include cigarettes and tobacco products (7 per cent), medical supplies, and mineral water," he said.
The executive director also noted that Georgian imports from Azerbaijan have decreased as well.
"In 2024, Georgia's imports from Azerbaijan amounted to approximately $584 million, marking an 11 per cent decline compared to the previous year. The reduction in imports is mainly attributed to a 20 per cent drop in the import of oil and petroleum products, as oil and oil products make up around 57 per cent of Georgia’s imports from Azerbaijan, with 10-12 per cent consisting of cement and construction materials," he added.
