Georgian PM: Government reshuffle aims to improve governance system
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that the recent government reshuffle will contribute to the overall strengthening of the country’s governance system.
"Renewal is always necessary in any team. In this case, we believe that the processes unfolding in recent days will further enhance the functioning of the government," Kobakhidze said, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"This will be ensured by the new team we have formed—a team of true professionals," he added.
According to Kobakhidze, the newly appointed officials are expected to improve efficiency and bring fresh momentum to the government’s work.
Earlier this week, the prime minister announced a series of key changes, including the appointment of a new head of the State Security Service, the division of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure into two separate bodies, and the introduction of a new Minister of Justice.
Currently, the Georgian government consists of 12 ministers and one state minister. The ministers of interior, economy, and defence are deputy prime ministers. At the same time, the minister of economy and sustainable development holds the position of first deputy prime minister.
