Georgian president to embark on official visit to Azerbaijan in mid-April
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili is set to visit Azerbaijan on April 15-16.
The visit will be significant as it will be Kavelashvili's first official foreign trip following his inauguration at the end of 2024, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
Kavelashvili’s international relations advisor Luka Ekhvaia said that after his visit to Azerbaijan, the Georgian president will continue his regional diplomacy by traveling to Armenia. The visit highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Georgia and its neighbouring countries.
Earlier, President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country Faig Guliyev to discus bilateral relations between the two countries.
The two sides discussed the current state of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries. The president emphasized the importance of Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation in ensuring stability and the development of the South Caucasus region.
Kavelashvili, who has assumed the office of the Georgian presidency in December 2024, expressed his gratitude for Azerbaijan's unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on political, economic, and regional cooperation within the strategic partnership between the two nations.
