German spy ship reportedly sailed 20km from Nord Stream blast site

The German navy has confirmed that it sent a spy ship in September on a secret mission to the area where a rupture was confirmed days later in the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline.

A German Army reconnaissance ship was spotted less than 11 nautical miles (about 20 kilometres) away from the place of Nord Stream’s detonation, the German news service ZDF reports, citing a German navy representative.

The incident on "North Streams" took place on September 26, 2022. The reconnaissance ship left the port of Kiel on September 7 and was near the site of the explosions until September 14. The ship's mission is kept secret.
