Poland urges airlines to avoid Belarusian airspace
Polish aviation authorities have advised all airlines operating flights to the European Union to steer clear of Belarusian airspace.
The Warsaw air traffic control service, which oversees aircraft movements over Poland, confirmed this to TASS.
“Foreign carriers entering the European Union are being encouraged to avoid airspace managed by Minsk air traffic control,” a source at the agency said. A similar advisory has been issued to airlines directly registered in Poland.
According to the service, “Polish air carriers, as well as crew commanders holding Polish licenses—regardless of whether they are contractual or de facto operators—are advised to refrain from flying through airspace controlled by Minsk.”
The source did not specify the reasons behind the recommendation but stated that the notice has been distributed to all carriers and other users of Polish airspace. The advisory will remain in effect through February 14, 2026.
